T-zone: what does it say about your face?

T-zone face

The T-zone is the area of your forehead, nose and chin. These parts of your face together form a T-shape. It is a concept in beauty land because the T-zone is the most noticeable and here impurities or flakes develop the fastest. The skin in these areas is often oily and shiny, compared to the rest of your face - or dry.

Either way, a dry or oily (acne) T-zone almost always means that your skin is out of balance. And that's good news too: because it means that you can do something about it! How? We'll explain it to you here.

What is a T-zone on your face?

Does a quick glance in the mirror also bother you with a greasy forehead? A quick dab or powder brush helps, but only temporarily: and that is that annoying greasy T-zone on the face! Most pores are on your forehead, nose and chin. And greasy skin is usually caused by overactive sebaceous glands. Because although sebum protects your skin and keeps it supple, overproduction can lead to shine, clogged pores and yes, unfortunately acne too. Also, foundation doesn't stay on as well on a greasy forehead. Time to do something about it!

Did you know that the T-zone can be oily and dehydrated at the same time?

It is important to know that oily skin does not necessarily mean that it is also sufficiently hydrated. In fact, oily skin can also be dehydrated! After washing, your face can feel dry and tight. If the T-zone becomes oily later in the day, this means that your skin is asking for extra moisture.

The cause: Many people use products that are too strong to remove the oily layer from their face. This damages the natural skin barrier that protects against dehydration. The skin then becomes drier and produces more sebum in response. This results in an annoying vicious circle with an oily T-zone as a result.

The solution? Choose a natural facial cleanser that removes excess sebum but leaves your natural protective layer intact. Also use products that regulate sebum and intensively nourish and hydrate your skin.

A oily skin of the face has an oily layer all over. If you only have an oily, shiny T-zone, then we are talking about combination skin. This skin type requires a different approach. You want to remove the excess shine from the T-zone, without neglecting the rest of your face.

  • restore the moisture balance and
  • protect the skin.

Natural facial care for combination skin

Products with natural ingredients often have a gentler effect and are more suited to the sensitivities of our skin. Aggressive products, full of synthetic chemicals and strong detergents, can damage the skin barrier and disrupt its natural balance. This can lead to irritation, dryness or even an overproduction of oil in response to stress. That is why it is wise to choose products that respect and care for the skin, instead of “overwhelming” it.

Having trouble choosing? We'll help you get started!

1. Facial toner that balances the skin

Cleanse your face in the evening with a mild cleanser that suits your skin type. Especially with dry skin, it is not necessary to wash it in the morning. Instead, use a toner for the face. Many toners contain irritating ingredients such as alcohol or menthol. This may feel refreshing for a moment, but is a no-go when you want to balance your skin.

A natural one face spray water-based is the cheapest and easiest solution to treat an oily T-zone. You can use this for a light cleanse in the morning but is also ideal as a pick-me-up in between. Spray the toner on your face and wipe the shiny area clean with a cotton pad.

2. Mild peeling for deep cleansing

Especially when you suffer from an oily T-zone with spots, it is wise to give your face a deep cleansing once or twice a week. This is best done with a mild peeling for the face based on fruit acids (fruit acid peeling) or salicylic acid.

Avoid scrubs and synthetic or strong peels. Excessive cleaning or overly aggressive ingredients irritate or dry out the skin. This causes the skin to react by producing extra sebum. 3. Moisturizing cream or serum that regulates sebum production

Be careful with thick creams for an oily T-zone. When the rest of your skin could use a little extra, only apply the cream to the normal or dry parts of your skin. For the oily T-zone, it is best to only use a light serum. For this we recommend Hyaluron & Probiotics on, this serum with hyaluronan deeply hydrates the skin. After the first use you will notice that your skin is smoother!

Aging skin? Then choose a cream with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamin A (Retinol). You can find these in RetinLift 3-1 and is definitely recommended because of its anti-aging effect if you are looking for a miracle cure for wrinkles!

Do you have a dry T-zone with a flaky skin? Then choose a nourishing cream especially for dry skin, such as Artic Beauty Cream.

4. Nourishing and protective facial oil
